Hello again, couple of details in this newsletter involving events over the next 4 weeks and towards the end very important info to do with executives for 2019.

Let’s get into it.

[CSUS] END OF SEMESTER EVENT | LEVEL 1 ESCAPE ROOM | APR 27 1300HRS |

There is a little over a month left until the end of the semester and here’s another thing to look forward to once the semester is over. CSUS is holding an event on April 27th 1:00pm to 2:30pm at Level 1 Escape. Afterwards, we will head to Bubblemania for some grub.

We have a cap of 30 people (could be increased if demand is high!) and we will require groups of 5 or 6 to sign up for rooms. We also require a $20 fee to secure your RSVP. More details on how to sign up will be released later. For now, mark your calendars and start to assemble your team!

[CSUS] VB6 EVENT | ECLIPSE STABLE: A PEAK INTO A BUGGY WORLD | APR 6 1700HRS |

An obscure 2009 attempt to make an MMORPG engine using Visual Basic 6 that resulted in a boom of open-source code. On Friday, April 6, come in to discover the primitive tools in GUI building, map creation, sprite art, scripting, and more! Potentially, even a live demo!

Free for all to attend. Room details coming soon, look for a poster near you!

[UofC] TECHNOLOGY USE, SECURITY AND PRIVACY STUDY

Are you interested in sharing your views on technology use and privacy? We are gathering data to develop new methods and tools for protecting the privacy of the public.

We are looking for individuals to participate in our study to share their views on technology use and on privacy, at school and away from school.

If you are 18 or over and are an undergraduate student at the University of Calgary, please join our study by going to our survey: http://surveymonkey.com/r/UCalgaryPrivacy

[ARC] AUTONOMOUS ROBOT CLUB | COME FORTH AND JOIN |

The ARC is one of the interesting clubs on campus (along with us…) and are in dire need for 1st and 2nd year CPSC students. Their robot runs on  an open source Linux based platform and the team is currently in the works of migrating their code to an online git repo.

This is an amazing opportunity for those who have been looking to work on something and see it grow. Students who join will gain relevant experience (not limited to autonomous robots) before entering the third year. That’s a lot trust me, that’s why I encourage you to join ASAP and spread the news.
