Hello World!
How’s everyone doing so far? Hoping your semester is going well, and keep your homework schedule known!(I am not speaking from experience here)
Regardless of my inability to keep track of my homework, my ability to keep track of events is only marginally diminished! It’s gonna be a busy week, especially with assignments, midterms, and all these events!
First off, we’ve a quick event with Olivier Aubin! Olivier is an U of C alumni, and now a software engineer at Google! He’s coming back to lord this over us(and to also give some talks, but that’s gonna be in the next point), but we’ve got a little bit of time with him! On Friday, October 7th, 9:00-10:30am, in SS 203, Olivier will be here to just hang out, and possibly do a small presentation! This is also the same day as all the Google events, so if you’re interested in meeting the person behind it all, come on out!
Secondly, as I alluded to before, the U of C and Google are partnering to have a few events! These events run both days, and are open to everyone! The only things you’ll need to do is RSVP here, and for more information, check out this!
Lastly, we’ve got two talks about the department itself! Our first one will be on Wednesday, October 12th, 6:00-8:00pm, ST 135 and will be focusing on the concentrations in our department! If you’ve ever had any question about concentrations, such as “we offer concentrations?” or, “what are they good for, absolutely nothing?”, or what they are in the first place, make your way down!
The second one will be on Wednesday, October 19th, 6:00-8:00pm in ICT121 as well! This one will emphasize the internship program we offer and work experience, with students who have gone on internships to give talks! Internships are a great way to get yourself out there while you’re still in school, and it’s a great tool for networking with others! If you’ve interested in the idea of doing an internship, and to know what skills you should have if you’re looking to go into industry, you won’t want to miss this night!
For these two events, please RSVP with us, just so we can get an estimate on numbers, here!
That’s everything for now folks! As always, we’ll keep you updated as it goes on!
CSUS, out.
